More Mostly Mensa Minds

i interact on a semi-regular basis with the owners of these blogs. i suggest you check them out, too; (a) to see and support similar ideas, if that’s what brought you here; or (b) to tell us what heretics we are, if that’s what landed you at this (not-so-)humble blog.

Sheerahkahn’s Site – does it have a name? i dunno. sheerahkahn is a frequent visitor, which means he has too much time on his hands or the state penitentiary allows laptops. a like-minded individual (to some extent), he and i like to spice it up over at Out of Ur. (“up,” “over,” “at,” “Out” – that’s four – count ‘em, four – prepositions right in a row. pretty odd.)

Into the Subversion – Sam Andress is one of my favorite bloggers: confidently opinionated, with good opinions. and he writes his profile in lower-case letters: “livin the post-seminary life. in awe of the beauty of the good news.” lower-case, of course, being a sign of maturity… (?)

A Noggin Full of Noodles – despite his profile statement, “If i could be anyone in the world it would be Spider-Man,” Justin is a sharp guy who thinks like i do. but i’m being redundant…

Marin County Jesus “A former minister (and current engineer) reflects on his colorful years as student at Golden Gate Seminary, a Southern Baptist school in the San Francisco Bay area.” Steve is another of my favorites, having removed himself from the pastorate because his beliefs changed too much to allow him to continue in it. and he’s an engineer to boot. of course, living in the bay area as he does, you might want to get a second opinion on what you read there… :)

Neo-Baptist – Not sure where this one went…? Gordon used to write from down under (no, not hell – Australia, though the baptists he sometimes targets in his posts might consign him to the former…). It was “a place of collective wisdom for Baptist types,” he says, and i still consider myself a baptist type, though more like a baptist typo, i suppose… Let me know if you find where it went to…

C. Orthodoxy – Ken Brown writes that “C. Orthodoxy is my online home, a place to explore the links between Christian faith and postmodern culture… I hope I am orthodox,” [boo] “but I have no finished system, just a passion for that beautiful yet indistinct line between heaven and earth. I’m always eager for discussion.” [good]. This guy seems to have gone big time…

Cdero’s Weblog – “This blog serves to share my thoughts on issues that shape and impacts culture as well as promote my work as a Church community worker. It will also share my Biblical and theological reflections.” he just finished undergraduate work and is now looking to attend cemetery – uh, sorry – seminary.

Confessions of a Christian Hedonist – Bradley Cochran writes, “God rolled up his sleeves to reach down from heaven and scoop me up from the pit, made his love and power clear to me, gave me new life in Christ, and set me on a new path. I only wish my life were a better tribute to this great redeemer.” i resemble that. seems a little too Reformed from my perspective :) , but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Progression of Faith – Mike Leaptrott writes from Augusta, Georgia, and thinks in a similar vein as i do – especially on how science and religion need not be at odds. worse, he’s a software developer. one more strike, mikey, and you’re down at the seventh level with me…

Whatever You Do – “This blog is one place where exploration happens. I am a husband, son, brother, reader, thinker, arter, and dreamer.” except for not being a brother, i resemble that, too. visits and comments at Out of Ur, so his pilot light must be towards the ‘dim’ side he must be a pretty good guy…

will add more as i find them. check back here often.

at least hourly.

24×7…

  1. “I hope I am orthodox,” [boo]

Heh, it’s funny actually, but lately I have been wondering wheher I’m not just a bit disingenuous to have “Orthodoxy” in my name, see the distinction between orthodox and heresy as being near as vital as the early Church maintained.

But if orthodoxy simply means “right thinking,” then I do hope I have that! ;)

  2. Oops, accidentally deleted a half a line. Let’s try that again:

“I hope I am orthodox,” [boo]

Heh, it’s funny actually, but lately I have been wondering wheher I’m not just a bit disingenuous to have “Orthodoxy” in my name, since I’m actually rather heretical in some of my views. At the least, I don’t see the distinction between orthodoxy and heresy as being near as vital as the early Church maintained.

But if orthodoxy simply means “right thinking,” then I do hope I have that! ;)

  3. Hey Mike,

Darren with Precipice here. Just wanted to let you know that I’ve started a new blog: http://darrenbrett.wordpress.com/. You’re in my blogroll. Why not drop by with a comment now and then. I intend to do the same, here.
